Lezing Jan Roubal: Proces of change in Gestalt therapy: clinical implications

The process of change in Gestalt therapy can be understood from three different perspectives rooted in three different paradigms: personal, dialogical, and field theory.(1)

We can observe the change in the client which is enabled by therapist´s activities of raising awareness and supporting both safe and challenging contact. (2) We can also observe the change which appears in the dialogically co-created new ways of contacting. (3) And, we can also observe change happening in the situation flow supported by the way the therapist is present. Different ways of understanding change processes can show us different guidelines for clinical practice. Example of working with clients with depressed and mourning experiences will illustrate the presented theory.
